Opening/Closing Register

Overview

  • Before you can make any sales in POS, you must first open your register. When your shift is complete, you then close the register.

 

Requirements

  • Must have either an Administrator or Manager role.

 

Opening Register

1. In the left navigation menu, select Open Register.

  • On the left side of the Open Register screen, you can view statistics from the previous shift (Z Report). To print these statistics, click Print Z Report button.

 

 

2. Enter the amount of cash currently in your cash drawer in the Opening amount field, using the calculator or your keyboard. 

  • If you installed the Cash Denominations app, you will be able to enter and track the quantity of each denomination of bills and coins that are currently in your register.
  • Optionally enter opening notes in the Register Notes field

 

3. Click the Open Register button to open the register and start running sales.

 

 

Closing Register

1. When your shift is completed and you are ready to close the register, open the left navigation menu and select Close Register.

 

  • On the left side of the Close Register screen, you can view statistics from the current shift (X Report). To print these statistics, click Print X Report button.

 

 

2. Enter the amount of cash left in your cash drawer in the Closing amount field, using the calculator or your keyboard. 

  • If you installed the Cash Denominations app, you will be able to enter and track the quantity of each denomination of bills and coins that are currently in your register.
  • Optionally enter closing notes in the Register Notes field

 

3. Click the Close Register button to close the register. 

  • You will not be able to perform orders or cash operations until the register is reopened.

 

Open/Close Register Reporting 

  • In addition to the Z and X reports displayed in POS, each time you open and then close a register, the sales and revenue information from that shift will be tracked in the Z Report Details report in Back Office, including any Open and Close Register Notes.
